§ 70-57. Sewer user charge.

Latest version.
  • (a)

The fee is a percentage of water use and shall provide the city with adequate revenues to retire any indebtedness incurred for the construction of the wastewater treatment facilities as well as the continued operation, maintenance and replacement of the sewer plant and transmission/collection systems. Rates are established based on the anticipated wastewater flows and strengths from domestic, commercial, and industrial users. The commercial rate also applies to schools due to the large hydraulic flows with associated higher strengths due to kitchen wastes.

    (b)

The following current sewer user charge schedule shall apply to all customers discharging domestic sewage within the guidelines established in section 70-53(c):

    (1)

Residential. $1.50 per month for the first 3,000 gallons of water used, then $0.60 for each additional 1,000 gallons used.

    (2)

Commercial. $1.50 per month for the first 3,000 gallons of water used, then $0.60 for each additional 1,000 gallons used.

    (3)

Disconnection fee. For the disconnection of the water or sewerage service for nonpayment of user charges or violations of this division, there shall be a fee in an amount as established by the mayor and council, from time to time, which may be in addition to any costs incurred by the city in effecting.
