§ 26-81. Special permits for fireworks displays and for the sale of fireworks.

  • (a)

    Special permitting may be granted by the mayor and city council for fireworks or events, such as the fireworks display for the Fourth of July, etc.

    (b)

    The cost of obtaining permits from the city, for the sale of fireworks at retail, shall be in an amount as established by the mayor and city council from time to time.

    (c)

    The city council adopts by reference, and incorporates in this article, all of the provisions of title 51—Fireworks of the state revised statutes (R.S. 51:650 et seq. and amendments).

    (d)

    Whoever violates any of the provisions of this article and its sections and subsections shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and shall be punished according to the general penalties described in this Code. The court may enforce the liquidation of the fine by sentencing the person convicted to labor on the streets and other public places at a rate proscribed by the court.
